Greater Grand Rapids Food Systems Council
The Greater Grand Rapids Food Systems Council is a collection of many people of diverse interests, working together to help create a sustainable and just food system in the Greater Grand Rapids area. They work to transform the way we get our food, so that it stengthens our farmsteads and communities while restoring our ecosystems. The Council promotes community gardens, urban agriculture, regional farming in Kent, Ottawa and Muskegon Counties, farmer’s markets, food security with local food pantries and charities, and does farming education. A recent popular class was “Farming 101”, an introduction to farming. The website of the Greater Grand Rapids Food Systems Council: http://www.foodshed.net/ |
